Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) for 12th AOEC Abstracts 

 

Abstract Submission:

Can I make changes to my abstract after submission?

You can make any changes you wish to the abstract even if the abstract has been submitted, but the changes need to be made before the abstracts submission deadline. Once the abstract submission deadline has passed, changes are not permitted unless they relate to the results of the study, in this case only, please contact [email protected].

 

Can I submit an abstract after the deadline?

Please email [email protected] in order to enquire about whether late abstracts are being accepted.

 

Can an Encore Abstract be submitted?

Yes an Encore Abstract can be submitted to the 12th AOEC providing that there is no copyright issue with the original publisher.

 

 

Abstract Acceptance:

When will I know if my abstract has been accepted?

Authors will be notified of their abstract/s' acceptance/ rejection by Friday 23rd March 2018.

 

How will I receive the information from the Congress Secretariat?

Contact details provided at the time of submission will be used for all correspondence related to the Congress. Please ensure that the correct details are entered.

 

How will my abstract be presented at the Congress?

Most abstracts are accepted for poster presentations, a few are selected for oral presentation. You will be informed of the format of your presentation at the time of acceptance notification.

 

My colleague has received confirmation of his acceptance and I did not, is there something wrong?

There may be a problem with your email address, therefore please contact [email protected]

 

 

Abstracts - Onsite Information:

 

Will e-posters be available at the Congress?

E-posters are not available at the 12th AOEC.

 

Do posters have to stay up for the duration of the Congress?

Posters should be up for both Friday 29th and Saturday 30th June 2018.

 

Where will the poster area be situated?

Posters will be on display in the Negara room; this room can be accessed from the main foyer of the hotel.

 

 

Will there be poster sessions?

Yes - all presenters are required to be at their poster at the designated poster view times on Friday 29th June and Saturday 30th June (12:30-13:30) in order to answer questions from those visiting the poster area.

 

Can I include videos beside my poster?

AV equipment is not provided by the congress. Should you wish to order any specific equipment to complement your poster, please contact the Congress Secretariat in order to receive a quotation.

 

How can I make my poster more attractive?

Please note that the colourful posters are more effective and attractive. When choosing a background, remember that neutral or grey colours will be easier on the eyes than a bright colour. Colour photos also look best when mounted on a grey background. Finally take note of the poster dimensions as outlined on the poster presentation page.

 

 

Abstracts - General Queries:

 

Which reference number should I use when I send a query to the Congress Secretariat?

Please quote your abstract reference number that starts with A-966- in all correspondence.

 

I am not the first author; can I present the poster on behalf of my colleagues?

Presentation by a second author may be allowed. Once your registration has been completed, please contact [email protected]. Please note however that each author is permitted to present only once during the Congress (not including invited lectures).

 

I am a speaker in the Congress programme; do I need to submit an abstract?

Speakers are not required to submit abstracts to illustrate their talks.

 

I have been selected for a platform session but I would have preferred a poster presentation, what can I do?

The Abstract Review Committee has selected your work to be presented in a platform session because they felt that it was of high quality and that a large audience would be interested in knowing more about the study. It would be a shame not to use this opportunity to present your work! However if you are unable to make an oral presentation please contact the secretariat at [email protected] for alternative arrangements.

 

How do I find out information about the posters?

Further information on the poster presentations at the 12th AOEC will be available here once the abstract results are sent out.
